An AI Content Detector Built for Academic and Research Writing
Most free AI checkers are tuned for blog posts and short essays, and they cap you at a few hundred words. This AI content detector is built for long academic documents: research papers, assignments, theses, dissertations, MBA projects, literature reviews, and journal articles of up to 10,000 words in a single check.
It is calibrated for academic prose, so standard methodology wording, passive voice, and discipline terminology are not treated as AI signals on their own. Non-native English is never counted as evidence of AI. That keeps false positives down on exactly the kind of writing that generic detectors misjudge most.
What the AI Detector Checks
- AI-generated text: passages that read like raw ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Copilot output.
- AI-generated and paraphrased text: LLM writing that was run through a paraphraser or "humanizer", which often leaves awkward synonym swaps on top of an AI structure.
- Section-level patterns: AI percentage for each chapter or heading, so you can see whether the literature review, methodology, or discussion is driving the score.
- Writing signals: sentence-length variation (burstiness), stock AI vocabulary, formulaic transitions, and generic claims without specifics.
Download a PDF AI Detection Report
Every check produces a downloadable PDF AI report that you can keep, share with a supervisor, or attach to a submission log. The report includes:
- Cover page: document title, author, institution, report ID, analysis date, file name, file size, pages, words, and characters.
- Overview: the percentage detected as AI, the split between AI-generated and AI-paraphrased text, what was excluded, a section-by-section table, and observations.
- Full document: your complete text with AI-generated and AI-paraphrased sentences highlighted, and excluded text (references, quotations, headings) shown in grey.
The report is a PrestoExperts AI writing analysis. It is not a Turnitin, GPTZero, or university report, and its scores will not match those tools number for number.
AI Detection for Theses, Dissertations, and MBA Projects
| Document | Typical length | How to check it |
|---|---|---|
| Assignment or essay | 1,000 to 3,000 words | Paste or upload the whole document in one check |
| Research paper / journal article | 4,000 to 9,000 words | One check; references are excluded automatically |
| MBA project | 8,000 to 15,000 words | Check chapters 1–3, then 4–6, and download a report for each |
| Master's thesis / dissertation | 12,000 to 25,000 words | Check two or three chapters at a time (up to 10,000 words each) |
| PhD thesis | 60,000 to 100,000 words | Check chapter by chapter |
The first 10,000 words of any longer upload are analysed, so split very long documents by chapter. Keep your drafts, notes, data files, and version history: if any detector produces a false positive on your own work, they are the strongest evidence of your writing process.
How to Read Your AI Score
The percentage shows how much of the qualifying text, meaning prose sentences after exclusions, is likely AI-generated, including AI text that was later paraphrased. As a general guide, below 20% is low and may reflect false positives on formal writing. From 20% to 50%, review the highlighted sections. Above 50%, substantial parts of the document read as AI-generated.
There is no universal threshold. Universities, supervisors, and journals set their own AI policies, and many allow AI for editing or language support with disclosure. Always check the rules that apply to your submission. For copied-text checks, use our free plagiarism checker.
